Today, we wanted to share an incredible story of how you, a supporter of the Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Society, are the true hero for burn survivors.
After years of fundraising efforts and institutional approvals, the Burn Unit at the Foothills Medical Centre has acquired a carbon monoxide laser.
You’re probably wondering how this laser can help burn survivors…
Here is a note from Dr. Nickerson, Medical Director for the Firefighters Burn Treatment Centre:
“Laser resurfacing can help burn survivors by not only improving the comfort of scars but also the appearance. Laser resurfacing can assist in loosening tight scars, flattening thick scars, and reducing chronic itch in certain situations.”
This new laser is truly going to change the lives of burn survivors and improve their overall quality of life. Patients suffering from severe burns and scars can now heal and recover better and faster and return to their lives.
Laser treatment for patients will begin this spring and will provide state-of-the-art care for people in Calgary and Southern Alberta.
Our board of directors thank you for your continued support which truly helps improve burn care for patients and their families.
Without you, we would not have been able to purchase this new laser and burn survivors would not be receiving the best chance at healing and thriving.
